Meet Our Family & Our Story

Welcome to Jubilee Family Farm. We are a homesteading, farming family of seven blessed to steward a beautiful piece of earth in Havelock, Ontario.

Our family consists of Tim and Angela Bakker (husband and wife, both born and raised in Prince Edward County) and our five children: Heidi, Sam, Josefina, John-David, and Dahlia. (One of these days I'll get an updated family photo with all the kids lol).

Our Roots: Reclaiming Integrity in Farming

Our journey began back in 2014 when we watched the documentary Food Inc. It was a life-changing moment that forced us to question everything about where our food was coming from. We quickly realized that the corporate “free-range organic” labels we were paying top dollar for in grocery stores didn’t match our values. Feeling misled, we resolved never to blindly trust a corporate food label again.

But finding truly nourishing food grown with absolute integrity was incredibly difficult. So, we abandoned our established careers in plumbing/contracting and nursing, trusting fully in God’s plan for our family, and decided to grow it ourselves.

We started right where we were, living on just one acre in Prince Edward County. The land right beside our house had been conventionally farmed for years- to the point where glyphosate was being sprayed directly next to our family’s home veggie garden. Knowing we had to protect our food and our soil, we bought that neighboring farm land and poured our hearts into restoring the tired, chemically depleted earth back to vibrant life.

Our farming journey truly blossomed there. We were deeply blessed to build a loyal community of hundreds of local families who trusted us to feed them. Eventually, our livestock and our dreams completely outgrew our acreage there. When it was time to pass the torch, we sold that first farm to new owners who proudly continue our legacy, keeping that land chemical-free and thriving with their own flock of sheep.

Leaving the County & Healing Starved Soil

Searching for affordable, expansive land where our family could truly scale, we followed the calling north to Havelock. Because we are further north here, expansive farmland is rare and highly precious.

The property we purchased was being farmed organically but it was not being farmed regeneratively. For years, hay had been continuously cut and hauled off the pastures, but no nutrients or organic matter were ever put back into the soil. The ground was organically starved and weary. We knew it was time for a rescue, we knew it was time to bring in our livestock to jumpstart the biological lifecycle of this ground. We knew it was time for a Jubilee.

In the Bible, the Year of Jubilee was a sacred time of liberation, restoration, and profound rest. That biblical vision is the heartbeat of our farm business. Wherever we step, our mission is to set the land free. We stopped the depletion, introduced intensive rotational grazing, and let the soil take its first deep breath in decades.

Today, that freedom is flourishing. Jubilee Family Farm is now a thriving, chemical-free ecosystem where nature works exactly the way it was designed to. Together with our five children, we pour our hearts into raising food that honours the earth and nourishes your family:

-->100% Grass-Fed and Grass-Finished Beef & Lamb moving through lush, resting pastures.

-->Pasture Raised and Organically Fed Chicken & Eggs

-->Pure Maple Syrup tapped by our son from our farms maple trees

The 198-Acre Miracle: Expanding Pastures to Meet the Demand

Since moving to Havelock, our blessings have multiplied quickly, and our community of loyal customers have continued to explode. Recently, we found ourselves running out of pasture land once again to meet the incredible local demand for our food.

Then, a miracle happened right across the road. The closest piece of farmland to us-a beautiful 198-acre plot running directly along our boundary- was owned by a conventional farmer who lived just down the road. Because it was conventional land, we always lived with the underlying worry of chemical overspray and herbicide drift touching our clean pastures.

When that older farmer decided it was time to sell the land, he approached us. He was deeply passionate about passing his land on to a younger generation who would actually farm the land rather than selling it off to developers. There was just no way we could afford it but knowing our hearts for the land, he offered to hold the mortgage for us himself.

By stepping into ownership of this land, we didn’t just double our pasture space, we completely protected our borders. Today, there are absolutely no chemical sprays anywhere near our farm. Our livestock can graze in total purity, completely insulated from chemical drift.

This incredible blessing has unlocked the next chapter of Jubilee Family Farm. With these expansive new fields, our 13-year-old daughter, Heidi, is officially stepping up to fulfill her dream as a full-time shepherdess. Heidi acts as a true farm midwife during the intense lambing and calving seasons. It is truly amazing to watch the natural instincts and delivery skills she possesses, whether she is saving a breech calf and its mama, or reaching in to turn stuck lambs into proper delivery positions. I truly feel she was made for this!

Partnering in Restoration

This lifestyle is about so much more than business. It provides invaluable life lessons for our children while helping to heal a small part of God’s (Yahuah’s) Creation.

When you choose Jubilee Family Farm and buy our products, you aren’t just buying premium, nutrient-dense food for your table. You are actively partnering with us in a story of restoration. Your support directly funds the fencing, pasture seeding, and mobile shelters needed to manage our herds regeneratively. By helping us keep our animals rotationally grazing across this land, you are actively healing the soil and protecting our local watershed- ensuring clean air, water, and soil for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of our Jubilee!
